Interpersonal Child Trauma Training - Level 1

The Interpersonal Child Trauma Training - Level 1 program is open to professionals only.

(If you are not a professional in a related field but would like information on hosting one of the programs at your school, church or organization, please email director@cacfingerlakes.org.)

The CACFL is recognized by the the New York State Education Department as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers and mental health counselors.

Participants can choose to complete the full Level 1 training program or individual workshops.

**NOTE: Level I will only be available for a limited time. Level II launches January 26.

The full Level I program costs $500. Individual workshops cost $20 per credit hour (1 hour = 1 credit hour). NOTE: Trainings are available free of charge to members of the Ontario, Seneca or Yates county MDTs; email director@cacfingerlakes.org if you have misplaced your discount code.

All Level I workshops are available for on-demand viewing.

Once you have enrolled and paid the registration fee, you will receive login information to view the workshops.

You must view the entire workshop in order to earn corresponding CEUs. If you have questions, email director@cacfingerlakes.org.

Attendees also must complete a provided evaluation following each workshop session.

Once the course and/or program is completed, you will receive a Certificate of Completion via email.

  • Complex Trauma: Understanding the Forms of Trauma and Subsequent Symptoms (6 hours)

  • Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care (7 hours)

    The workshop, presented by Dr. Doyle Pruitt, will focus on what trauma is; the impact of trauma; various individual, family and community responses to trauma; and interventions.

  • Understanding and Working with Child Sexual Abuse (4 hours)

    The recorded workshop, presented by Dr. Molly Wolf, focuses on children and youth who have trauma histories and resultant symptomology of sexually reactive behaviors.

  • Building Resiliency (3 hours)

    The live-streamed workshop, presented by Dr. Marie Watkins Dec. 13, focused on resiliency; individual, family and community protective factors; and promoting resiliency and building Positive Childhood Experiences in clients we serve.

  • Psychoeducation with Trauma Survivors (4 hours)

    During the recorded workshop, Alexis Glennon will identify the areas of need for trauma survivors (ie. healthy sexuality, healthy interpersonal relationships, coping skill and affect regulation) and how these can be addressed using psychoeducation in individual and group settings.

  • Navigating Legal and Social Service Systems (2 hours)

    The live-streamed workshop discussed the various legal systems, laws common to victims and offenders of interpersonal violence, roles of service providers, and how each can intersect with the other to prevent and treat those impacted by violence.

  • TIC Practices in a Legal Setting (2 hours)

    Presented by Janine Phillips Oct. 27, the live-streamed workshop discussed the application of knowledge of TIC by all professionals interfacing with victims involved in the legal system. Past strategies that have been successful and those that have been proved to be disadvantages will be included as part of the dialogue.

  • Keeping Our Children Safe Online (2 hours)

    The recorded workshop provides an overview of how today’s youth are using technology in their educational and social lives. Ways to promote healthy use, monitor for potentially dangerous behaviors and encourage conversations in families will be discussed. There also will be discussion of considerations particular to at-risk youth.

  • Normative Sexual Behavior Across the Lifespan (2 hours)

    The live-streamed workshop included information about healthy sexual practices, value-driven behavior and what constitutes “abnormal” sexual behavior at various developmental stages, ages and cultural contexts.

  • Human Trafficking in Western New York: Identifying and Supporting Trafficked and At-Risk Youth (2 hours)

    The live-streamed workshop discussed the fundamental aspects of sex trafficking and sexual abuse of children and youth. Similarities and differences in offender tactics, symptomology and intervention needs also were discussed.
