Description

This training supports participants in gaining insight helpful to working with those who live in poverty. This session discusses strategies to increase skills and knowledge related to the culture of poverty, raise our individual and group awareness about biases as it relates to poverty, and enhance the understanding of children and families to assist in strengthening interactions.

Objectives

Learners will:

• Learn the differences between generational and situational poverty

• Know the hidden rules behind patterns in poverty, middle class, and wealth

• Understand the differences and impact of language between poverty and middle class

• Gain strategies for building relationships with families experiencing poverty
