Description

Participating in the justice system as a victim or witness can be especially confusing, distressing, and even re-traumatizing for children and youth. This workshop will educate participants on best practices to support children and youth during their involvement with the justice system as a victim or witness to crime.

Objectives

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

• Explain the legal process to a child/youth in a developmentally appropriate manner.

• Familiarize the child/youth with the basics of courtroom technology, procedures, and personnel.

• Explore strategies that will help a child/youth cope with the difficult feelings that might come up while in court.
